Unmasked Risograph print: blue edition

Unmasked Risograph print: blue edition
Unmasked (blue edition) is a 4 color Risograph print of an illustration originally created for Delilah Friedler’s article “My Ghost Stories: Hooking up while trans on the latest frontier of misogyny.” The illustration was first published by Mother Jones Magazine in Spring 2020. It shows a portrait of a masked figure whose mask is being lifted away by another set of hands, revealing soft flowers in the shadows of the mask-wearer’s face. This version has a blue background.
You may recognize the mask from your own dating experiences. ;)
One of my most popular images, it has moved people across a wide breadth of interpretations and experiences within queer community. As with all my work, it has no singular meaning; I am more interested in hearing what it means to you.
These prints are 11 × 17 inches, printed on a delicate, warm off-white paper. Note: photos were taken in even, overcast lighting to best capture the ink colors, which will appear differently in different light. They will ship rolled in a cylinder package to protect them from dents or dings on their journey. Handle it with care, by the blank edges: Risograph ink can smudge or transfer very easily. This helpful guide demonstrates 2 different methods to flatten rolled prints. With either method, I strongly recommend placing a clean, flat, ink-free surface such as a cloth or blank sheet of paper in between your print and whatever surface it touches to protect your print.
